This ti.e we are going to do it "right" a 50 amp line all the way from the panel on the east side of the house to the hot tub on the west side.
We will be putting in a 6 gauge 3 wire through the attic and the down through our master closet and the guest bedroom closet then out through the west wall to a breaker box just 10 feet from the hot tub.
We got a bid for 3300$ so we decided to do at least part of it ourselves to save some dough.
Today we measured out all the areas and drilled holes and removed sheet rock. I ran a piece of string through the whole thing in order to measure how much wire we would need. It turns out we need just 100 feet almost on the nose. So I bought a 125 foot rule from Lowes. Normally marked at $184 I got it for 10% off because the packaging looked like it may have been messed with.
Breaker box before wiring hot tub. Note the 40 amp breaker. That I guess we will be replacing with the 50 breaker.
This is the downstairs closet, the hole at the left is the hole we I thought it would come out from the upstairs. The hole at the right is the one where the cable actually cones down from above and the pokes out through the plywood and a tiny pin pick through the siding
The upstairs closet hole to the downstairs closet.
Now that the holes are all drilled and there is access I need to get sam to help me pull the wire.
I ran the wire and coiled up a little on each end. On this end I had about a text so I decided and nailed it down when the other round I only had about 3 feet so I had one extra loop which I just stapled to the truss in a circle. These extra little amount will allow us to potentially have a little bit more if we ever need to do something different in the box and we will still be able to cut it to the exact length needed within the box.
Next will have the electrician come in to the actual wiring in the panel and at the hot tub switch and run the final cable to the hot tub. In an interesting twist d electrician while doing the wire called and said was only going to be $1,500. So we will find out what he charges to finish up my work. The said it will be a materials and labor charge.
