Taking norco after acl surgery

After surgery my knee wasn't hurting too bad so we went to costco, I drove around on the cart. Got  some hot dog food on my belly and went to pick up some norco.  The cart hurt to sit in, with or without the foot elevated.  The car hurt, so I laid on the couch. And took one  norco at 730.  By that time it was hurting pretty bad so the pain never went away. We watched dumb and dumber to, ate a peanut butter and honey sandwich and had 2 norco at 1130 (as prescribed)  it's now 1230 and the pain has lessened but I still don't think I can go to sleep with the pain.  Perhaps reading a business book will get me to sleep.  Thank goodness my MBA professor prescribed some optional reading when class ended a couple days ago.
I took additional 2 norco at 1130pm, 330 and 730 am.  The pain is much more manageable but I still only get up in order to go the bathroom.  I think I would have been better off taking two norco last night to get started as it would not have gotten as bad as it did. 
Really, the norco has not really done much in the way of  making me loopy.  My mouth had gotten a bit cotton mouthy and I have gotten dizzy but I don't picture any addictive qualities yet
